♥ Michael Joseph Jackson ♥ Legend ♥ R.I.P

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) American recording artist, entertainer and businessman. Seventh child of the Jackson family, made his debut onto the professional music scene at 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1969, later began a solo career in 1971. The "King of Pop" in subsequent years, his 1982 album Thriller remains the world's best-selling record of all time and four of his other solo studio albums are among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

In early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos Black or White and Scream made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists.
Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and support of 39 charities. Other aspects of his personal life, including his often changing appearances and eccentric behavior, generated significant controversy which damaged his public image. Though he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and Jackson was not charged. The singer had experienced health concerns since the early 1990s and conflicting reports regarding the state of his finances since the late 1990s. Jackson married twice and fathered three children, all of which caused further controversy. In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of further sexual abuse allegations and several other charges.
Los Angeles - Police have reportedly "seized bags" of prescription drugs from Michael Jackson's home. Former Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman claims officers have searched the Beverly Hills property Michael Jackson - who died of a suspected cardiac arrest on Thursday - rented, and took away various items. He told Life and Style magazine: "Police seized bags of material from his house. They were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don't know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials."

Oxman has previously claimed the 50-year-old singer's death was due to the pressure he was under ahead of his "This Is It" tour in London, claiming he had resorted to taking a cocktail of prescription drugs to ensure he was fit enough to perform. The lawyer now says he will be willing to give vital information to the police concerning Jackson's alleged use of prescription medication - he is believed to have been using several medications including painkiller Demerol - if an autopsy finds it played a role in his death.

Toxicology report

Oxman said: "I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn't warn him enough. I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them." The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has confiscated a BMW car from Jackson's property and is looking for the doctor who lived at the star's home. The autopsy was carried out by Dr Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran in Los Angeles on Friday. The coroner said that there was no evidence of foul play and that the final cause of death on Jackson would be deferred until the results of toxicology tests, were known, the AFP reported. Results of toxicology tests could take up to eight weeks. It is alleged Jackson's family were so concerned with his use of prescription drugs they confronted him in 2006. Family interventionReferring to several of Michael's siblings, a source told People magazine: "The family believes Michael is addicted. There was an intervention in Las Vegas. Janet was on the phone, but Randy, Jackie and Rebbie were there in person. "Michael got pissed off. He said he wasn't on drugs. But they didn't believe him." At the time of the intervention, another source close to the family insisted an aide of Michael's was giving him the medication. The insider said: "The aide has contacts wherever they are. Michael takes straight morphine, Demerol and opiates like Oxycontin. He also takes Valium and Xanax."

One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career, and the sale of 750 million records worldwide. Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades. Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, aged 50. The specific cause of death has yet to be determined. Before his death, Jackson had announced a 50-date sell-out This Is It comeback tour, in London, England.
