For our Nature Science project we had to chose an animal n make a model, i decided 2 do the jellyfish (0ne 0f my fav0urite animals) so i th0ught i'd p0st some facts. (put in my 0wn words)

The Moon Jellyfish

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Cnidaria
Class: Scyphozoa
Order: Semaeostomeae
Family: Ulmaridae
Genus: Aurelia
Species: Aurelia aurita

Aurelia aurita
The body of the Moon Jellyfish is generally 20-40cm across and transparent, with a sac-like structure. It is well-known by its four bright crescent shaped gonads (see diagram) that are under the stomach and its pink/violet colour. It lacks breathing, excretion and circulation systems. As a result, they breathe by diffusing oxygen through its membrane (cells). The adult jellyfish has an umbrella margin membrane with tentacles attatched to the bottom. The basic body has an internal gastro vascular cavity, which has an opening that is used as a mouth and an anus. The opening is enclosed with tentacles that help in protection and feeding. The body is made up of three layers, the epidermis (outermost layer), the mesoglea (middle layer) and the gastrodermis (innermost layer).
